{"id":529,"date":"2019-01-31T18:39:48","date_gmt":"2019-01-31T17:39:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.sido-lyon.com\/?p=529"},"modified":"2019-01-31T18:39:48","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T17:39:48","slug":"reinvent-the-world-wih-technologies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.sido-lyon.com\/en\/2019\/01\/31\/reinvent-the-world-wih-technologies\/","title":{"rendered":"Reinvent the world wih technologies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Technological Disruption or Transformation: For a paradigm shift<\/strong> The concept of \u00a0<strong>\u201cdisruptive innovation\u201d<\/strong> was introduced by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.claytonchristensen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clayton M. Christensen<\/a> in his 1997 book <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Innovator%27s_Dilemma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Innovator\u2019s Dilemma<\/a>. Alongside this, <strong>\u201cparadigm\u201d<\/strong>, has taken on a broader connotation in the philosophy of science since <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Thomas_Samuel_Kuhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thomas S. Kuhn<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/La_Structure_des_r%C3%A9volutions_scientifiques\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Structure of Scientific Revolutions<\/a>. Despite the unprecedented speed and amplitude of technological innovation, <strong>the term \u201cdisruption\u201d has given way to the word \u201ctransformation\u201d<\/strong>. This is not only a question of semantics, but a position that fundamentally shapes the questions we ask. \u201cTransformation\u201d means that change is conceived of as a gradual process, an evolution rather than a revolution. Thus, we primarily think about <strong>the consequences of technology on our current socio-economic organization<\/strong>, on our businesses, on employment or on today\u2019s lifestyles. The human being, instead of being at the heart of the debate on technological transformation, is cast out towards the periphery. They then have little influence when facing challenges involving finance, productivity and competitiveness. When we hear the word \u201ctransformation\u201d, we imagine training programs being set up, wealth being redistributed and other measures for employees whose jobs will be replaced or deeply changed due to technology. \u201cDisruption\u201d, on the other hand, <strong>forces humans to imagine comprehensive prospective visions that would then determine the purposes of technologies and the contributions they would make<\/strong>. It allows for a radically different style of debates and proposals on systems of socioeconomic organization. Here, we question our value system, our vision of &#8220;greater well-being&#8221; in the world. Examples of this include <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alain_Touraine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alain Touraine<\/a>&#8216;s proposal for an ethical-democratic movement or the OECD&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oecdbetterlifeindex.org\/fr\/#\/11111111111\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Better Life Index<\/a>. For want of meaning, <strong>we carry out \u201ctransformation\u201d in reaction<\/strong> to technological breakthroughs. <strong>We thus limit our foresight<\/strong> to potential futures geared towards technological progress. Using complexity as an excuse, we ask technological experts an endless stream of questions, while doing very little with the alternative ways of thinking and proposals offered by sociologists or philosophers, which are based on fundamental values.
